Zachary Waters

Zachary Waters graduated from San Francisco State University with a BA in Communication Studies minoring in Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts. As a graduate student at SFSU, Zachary is a graduate teaching assistant and instructs Fundamentals of Oral Communication. Along with being a GTA, Zachary also is an assistant coach for the Forensic Communication Team (speech & debate) at both SFSU and Solano Community College.

With a background specializing in impromptu, platform, and interpretative public speaking events, most of his experience working with students has consisted of assisting them in preparing for intercollegiate tournaments through instructing public speaking practices in advocacy, persuasion, and argumentation.

As a researcher, Zachary’s work has centered on the ways that homelessness can be addressed and better understood through digital communication practices, as well as how the intersections of race, gender, and being unhoused can be further understood through rhetorical messages.

Before pursuing academic endeavors, Zachary also acquired licenses in both cosmetology and barbering, allowing for an understanding and respect towards the utility of all forms of education.
