Alma Pulido

Alma Pulido is a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) in the Department of Communication Studies at San Francisco State University. Alma’s research interests include restorative justice, conflict resolution and mediation, and transformative healing from an ecological perspective. She also examines classicism and its impacts. Her current research focuses on the perceived credibility of offenders in mediation settings, class-based communication impacts, and community justice and healing, particularly as alternatives to the current punitive judicial system.

Alma is a graduate student in the Communication Studies department at San Francisco State University. She holds a B.A. in Communication Studies with a minor in Counseling, concentrating in Multiculturalism, from San Francisco State University. She also earned an A.A. in Paralegal Studies from Skyline College, where she focused on litigation and constitutional law. Alma has presented at the CSU Symposium on Teaching and Learning, discussing the embrace of critical pedagogy and the move away from carceral logics in the classroom. Additionally, Alma is a participant in the Faculty Diversity and Inclusion Program at the Peralta Community College District, which supports educators' commitment to fostering an inclusive academic environment. At San Francisco State University, she teaches undergraduate students in The Fundamentals of Oral Communication and is involved in the Conflict Resolution and Mediation program.
