Ivan Ornelas

Ivan Ornelas (pronouns He/Him) is a Lecturer Faculty Member in the Communication Studies Department as well as in the College of Ethnic Studies through the Metro Program. Ornelas earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies with a minor in History at the University of California, Davis. He then earned his Masters degree at San Francisco State University where he obtained his first experience teaching Communication Studies courses. He joined the department as a  lecturer in Fall 2021 after spending a few years in San Diego. His passions in this field include Intercultural Communication and the role of Media in Communication. Outside of the classroom, Ornelas enjoys playing and watching basketball, soccer, football, watching movies and playing video games with friends, and exploring the world nearby in the Bay Area and beyond.
