Sean Fourney, Ph.D., brings a wide variety of interests and experiences to the communication field. He grew up in Easton, PA, and worked in sports broadcasting as a producer and host while earning his B.A. at East Stroudsburg University and his M.A. at West Chester University. He received his doctorate in communication studies from the University of Southern Mississippi where he focused on risk and organizational communication. In the summer of 2018, he helped educate citizens on resilience during hurricane season as the Public Engagement Intern for New Orleans Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. He enjoys bringing these experiences to the classroom by challenging students to apply course content to important issues inside and outside the institution. His current research interests include the culture of risk and technology, sports communication, and qualitative methodology.
